EFA presents EWFL teams, referees with kit

MBABANE – The Eswatini Football Associatio­n (EFA) has presented Eswatini Women Football League (EWFL) teams and elite league referees with kits.

The EFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu presented the kits on behalf of President Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane, in an event which was held at Sigwaca House yesterday. The CEO revealed that EFA had bought 50 units for the referees, as well as 16 kits for all the teams playing under the Eswatini Women Football League. The presentati­on was graced by EWFL Chairman Bonginkosi Mhlanga, Eswatini Referees Associatio­n (ERA) Chairman Jabulani Motsa, Secretary General Mbongeni Motsa, referees Wandile Mamba and Thembinkos­i Magagula as well as women teams’ representa­tives.

“We are here today in this event for two presentati­ons, we are presenting 50 units of referees kits costing over E160 000. These kits will be used by referees when officiatin­g in both the premier and National First Division leagues,” Mngomezulu said.

He said the package was much improved in terms of quality and numbers, as compared to when EFA started dressing the referees.

“You will remember that we used to call referees the men in black due to their uniform, but now times have changed as referees are now wearing other colours as you can see today,” he said.

He also said with the new kit, they were hopeful that referees would be motivated to execute their jobs well during games and urged them to take extra care of

their new uniform. He further promised them that EFA would continue supporting them in terms of uniforms and organise workshop for them to improve the refereeing standard in the country. The referees were once again presented with a Macron kit.

Agreed WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY:

Meanwhile, when presenting the 16 kits to EWFL Chairman Mhlanga, the CEO said as part of the partnershi­p they have with national team Sihlangu’s technical sponsor Umbro it was agreed that the sponsor would assist to dress all the teams in the country.

“I would also like to thank EFA for the kits, we know that globally the economy is not right, but EFA has bought this for us. The kits will motivate the teams and I promise that they will take care of them.”

He said as EFA they were hopeful that this would motivate the teams to improve and he also urged them to take care of their kits. Mngomezulu also said as part of improving women football in the country they felt the need to help the teams with the new kits. Mngomezulu said the 16 Umbro branded kits cost the EFA over E250 000.
