J&J offers to pay E171bn for claims

7he company however believes that the claims were specious and that they lacNed scientific merit.

7his announceme­nt came at a time when the 86 Federal Appeals &ourt ruled in -an uary , that the company could not use the banNruptcy court to resolve some of the

lawsuits that alleged the talc in its products caused ovarian cancer and meso thelioma.

At the time, the company had planned to challenge the ruling.
