Scamming those already scammed

-

YEBEKUNENE, the biggest scam in (swatini and many other countries in Africa is unemployment. The youth joke about `umjolo’ dating being a scam, a pandemic and many other things but the most advanced scam is perpetrated by governments. ,t is called unemployment.

As unregistered members of the association of jobless people in (swatini, we want to condemn the practice of scamming people their money by offering them non-existent jobs in exchange for huge amounts of cash.

:e have seen this being done by people who claim to be employed in the army, the police service or His Majesty’s &orrectional Services. They pretend to have someone µon the inside’ who is in a senior position and is able to get people recruited into these forces.

They have sweet tongues and are able to win your confidence just by talking and making false promises. They then ask for `cool drink’, which they claim is reTuired by their contact in the force. This beverage they demand cost a thousand times more than your regular &oca-cola, Fanta or even 5ed %ull. Once you hand over the ( or (

, they one-tick you on :hatsApp.

%asically, they block you.

Some of these scammers are actually employed by the mentioned security forces.

They hold senior positions there and have agents who do not even work within these entities. The only time they have been within the premises of these security entities was when they went there to visit their incarcerated relatives. Some visit the canteens to buy liTuor.

OFFICERS

These senior male and female officers have built mansions, not to mention the vehicles they drive.

They do all this by using the money they steal from unsuspecting emaSwati, who always hope and pray for a breakthrough in their lives. ,nstead, they get heartbreak. Don’t be fooled, though. ,t is not only those who are in the security forces who thrive on running such scams. Almost every government department has such jackals. ,t is very rare for these evil civil servants to be brought to book. :e wonder why. Some say they are untouchable because they are usually agents of someone very

influential.

&ertain public enterprises and companies in the private sector also support governments in perpetrating this scam, by also creating silos of nepotism within their ranks. ,t is an elaborate plan that has robbed many a hopeful job applicant of their right to work.

The youth and other unemployed individuals are victims of the unemployment scam created as a result of government’s failure to provide an enabling environment for job creation.

The few jobs created are mostly reserved for `bantfwana babozibani’, who get employed whether they Tualify or not. Others are allowed to continue working long after reaching retirement age, making it impossible for those seeking to have their chance to work to come in. This scam has rendered many a college and university graduate jobless. Some of them have even resorted to selling Mobile Money to people who never even finished high school. :e keep seeing newspaper adverts and notices on social media, warning emaSwati not to fall prey to scammers who promise them non-existent jobs in various organisations. Ask yourself why these warnings have previously failed to bring such scams to an end. ,t is because the main scam is robbing people of their right to work. That is the situation scammers take advantage of, to scam those who have already been scammed by their uncaring governments.
