‘Sikhali’ eyes 1st league title out of ‘Birds’ shirt

- BY NIMROD HLOPHE

MBABANE – Like any other player’s wish to remain in the records of their team, Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa eyes for silverware in his debut season with Green Mamba.

Significant about it is that the fierce forward has won the MTN League coveted title several times, but only with Mbabane Swallows, missed by a whisker last season when he donned the black and white of Mbabane Highlanders. They finished second to Royal Leopard who beat them to it by a point.

The former Eswatini international joined the Correctional Services side at the beginning of the season from Highlanders. He was the MTN Premier League Player of the Season as he helped Highlanders qualify for the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup. He now stands to win it with Green Mamba, but they need a point if winning proves tough against police side Royal Leopard today.

“Note that it is my maiden season at Green Mamba after changing teams and consequently winning the title is key. It adds to the already existing record one has and adds value to the player. This means that I must put all the effort in order to win the game. I’ve won the league before with Swallows, so I’d like to win here too,” said the Green Mamba vice-captain.

He said everybody knows the magnitude of the game security forces derby tomorrow. “It will not be a walk in the park. We anticipate a tough game but the team that will have prepared well and executed their game plan superbly will eventually emerge victorious. For me, I think we will have to work hard from today (Thursday) onwards,” further stated the Sihlangu player during the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Open Day at their training ground.
