Win all expenses paid trip to Europe
MBABANE - A call-out has been made to local poets, comedians and Sign Language translators to participate in a South African competition dubbed ‘11th Recite YOUR OWN Poetry 2023’.
5egistration forms for this year’s contest were officially released last Monday and the closing date is June 16, 2023. It’s worth noting that, no late registrations will be accepted. The contest is open to all racial groups in South Africa (SA) and neighbouring countries including Eswatini. The competition is the brainchild of SA Author and Multimedia practitioner Bandile Magibili the man who has for the past decade created performance platforms for grassroots artists (poets, comedians and musicians etc) turned into superstars.

When reached for comment Magibili said; “My consistent passion for artist development through art got me international attention and countless invites which I honoured, from festival organisers and the academia abroad.” He went on to say that his mission is to also see other African artists step on to international stages, he introduced the opportunity of travel to Europe for five days for hard working and dedicated poets and artists who know that talent alone is never enough. “This platform rewards hard work, combined with talent and discipline. We don’t make artists’dreams come through; we simply facilitate the process for artists who put in the hard work to see their own dreams come true. We look forward to hosting yet again, Africa’s raw unpolluted artistry,” said Magibili.
He further encouraged interested artist who wish to receive registration forms and whose artistry falls within the above mentioned categories can WhatsApp their name, surname and province or country name (for foreign nationals) to the organiser, Bandile Magibili on

He concluded by saying that there is no language restriction. Artists must be between the ages of 15 - 40 years in order to participate. For the first time in the history of ‘5ecite YOU5 OWN Poetry’ we are welcoming stand-up comedians.
