MANZINI – The 7th edition of the Biggest Braai was launched yesterday at Pizza Club and Grill in Manzini.
This year’s event will be held at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre on July 8. The proud sponsor is Philani Maswati, which was represented by Chairperson Lutfo Dlamini who mentioned that this year they are targeting over 8 000 people to attend the event.
“EmaSwati like to attend this show as a family. Whenever we host the show we are usually worried that the venue will be full. This year we are looking to make things easier in terms of accessing the venue and getting tickets.
“This year we are running a competition where we want to see the funniest braai stand, this means emaSwati will bring their own braai stands this year. This is because we have seen that braai stands are expensive as nowadays they cost about E208 each.
Purchase
During the past years people would purchase the ticket as a package, which would include a braai stand, this presented a scenario where we felt like we were forcing emaSwati to pay a higher amount in order to participate in the event,” Dlamini said.
“We have also resolved that we should include a variety of drinks, especially in terms of size.
“This presents a scenario where we end up having a stampede at the gate because people can’t find their favourite drinks inside the venue. All drinks will be available during this year’s event and we would also be having local artists who will be entertaining the entourage. Tickets are priced at E100 and they will be sold in all Pizza Club outlets as well as on Instacash MoMo markets. We encourage each and every family, friends and fun lovers to come and enjoy themselves during this show,” added Dlamini.
Mxolisi Mabuza, who is the Mayor of Manzini town also got an opportunity to share a few words during the launch. He encouraged emaSwati to attend the event in numbers.
“I encourage the citizens of Manzini to attend this great corporate and family event in their numbers. Please bring the entire family, from the youngest to the eldest.
“To the 2023 Eswatini Biggest Braai, past expirience has shown that this is generally a safe and well organised event. I trust that the same security measures that have been used before during the event will prevail even this year. With this few words I declare this year’s Biggest Braai event launched,” Mabuza said.
The launch was complemented by a braai which was conducted by Eswatini Cultural group, which was led by Miss Cultural Heritage Lindelwa Maziya and Miss Eswatini Second Princess Fezile Mthupha. Drinks were also galore as attendants enjoyed the meat that was prepared at the venue.
