‘King Misuzulu, Buthelezi must resolve differences’
'8RBAN - Chairperson of the house of traditional and .hoi-San leaders in .wa=ulu-Natal ,nkosi Sifiso Rubert Shinga says any problems between =ulu .ing Misu]ulu .a=welithini and his Traditional Prime Minister Prince Mangosuthu Buthele]i should be resolved amicably.
There was speculation this week that Buthele]i, who has called an imbi]o of amakhosi for )riday, intended to resign, which he has denied. The meeting is e[pected to discuss the appointment of ,nkosi Thanduyise M]imela as Chairperson of the Board, a decision Times/,9E has learnt Buthele]i
does not approve of.
Shinga said the relationship between the men would be put to the test during the imbi]o, set to take place at Empangeni.
Co-operative
Shinga was speaking on the sidelines of a gala dinner hosted by Co-operative *overnance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC Bongi SitholeMoloi in 'urban on )riday night. The gathering brought together 'eputy Minister ;olile Ncamashe, Premier Nomusa 'ube-Ncube and traditional leaders.
:hile reiterating the house’s full backing of the =ulu monarchy, Shinga felt reconciliation would eliminate the chances of royal affairs being thrust into the spotlight.
“:e cannot intervene. The amakhosi are not happy with the conflict between the pair. ,t becomes relentless because if a statement purports (to be) from one party, the other one often hits back and it goes on and on,” said Shinga. He would not be drawn on the court battle involving the Monarch and his detractors, saying there was now stability. But he said he was encouraged the simmering tensions had boiled over, adding the ascendancy of .ing Misu]ulu had been blighted by difficulties.
