1. Manzini Wanderers goalkeeper Bongiswa Dlamini was born at Mbabane Government Hospital and is the lastborn in a family of three boys and one girl. “On my mum’s side there are two boys,” he reveals.

2. Bongiswa stayed at Ludzeludze before moving to Mbabane at the age of seven years. “It was a warm environment living with both parents and both were soccer fanatics. My dad supported Manzini Wanderers while my mum supports Mbabane Swallows,” he says.

3. The Wanderers goalie got the name Bongiswa from the then famous Mbabane Swallows attacking player, Bongiswa ‘Romario’ Nhlabatsi, who he says was his late father’s friend from the past. “I think that’s where I got football brains,” he laughed.

MBABANE - Young Buffaloes striker Celiwe ‘Cece’ Nkambule is once again celebrating a remarkable record after scoring 58 goals in the recently-ended Women Football League (WFL).

‘Cece’, as she is fondly known in the army side corridors coached by Fisiwe Hlophe, once again finished as the sharp shooter and helped Buffalos Ladies to defend the league title. The deadly former Manzini Wander- ers forward was followed by teammate Tenanile Ngcamphalala with 25 goals. Third on the charts was Manzini Wanderers’ Lindiwe Dlamini with 24 goals. The ruthless Amathole Ezinyathi Ladies team once again proved to be too strong in the past season WFL campaign, finishing with 63 points. The Sitsebe Samhlekazi forward’s tally was a bit lower when compared to that of last season’s campaign when she scored a mind-blowing 76 goals. However, she still stood out as a cut above the rest.

Fruitless

Efforts to reach her coach Fisiwe Hlophe were fruitless as her phone rang unanswered. ‘Cece’ could also not be drawn for comment after her cellphone rang unanswered. Mbabane Swallows Ladies’ Lindiwe Dlamini, on the other hand, was fourth on the scorers’ charts with 18 goals. Completing the top five was Nsingizini Hotspurs striker Nomvula Mthimkhulu with 17 goals. EWFA Chief Operations Officer (COO) Ntandoyenkosi Hlatjwayo said the league proved to be competitive. “I just want to thank the players who have shown a higher level of discipline during the games. “We would also like to applaud the coaches for being there play for Wanderers or Swallows because they were teams closer to his heart. “I watched most of their games with my late dad,” he shared.
