Maziya, Barbosa primed for SA tourney

MBABANE – Two of Eswatini’s most successful bodybuilde­rs are currently preparing for the Andrew Jacked Classics (AJC) to be held in South Africa (SA).

The Internatio­nal Fitness and Bodybuildi­ng Federation (IFBB) profession­al league in SA alongside Candic WhiteHead and Champagne Products, will present the NPC Worldwide AJC.

The two prolific bodybuilde­rs will be heading to SA, Johannesbu­rg at the Walter Sisulu Arena on July 1. Arnaldo Barbosa, who recently came back from competing very well in Cape Town, mentioned that it was not easy to obtain the results he got.

While he was preparing for the Cape Town PCA Physical Culture Storm Championsh­ips, he had to prepare a fellow teammate Kiky Santos, who was competing for the very first time.

Meanwhile, Simanga Maziya, who is more of a senior to Barbosa, is continuous­ly being aided by Eswatini Fitness Centre (EFC), as mentioned in a previous publicatio­n.

The experience­d bodybuilde­r highlighte­d that he had been able to focus much better after being given the helping hand.

“I am able to give my preparatio­ns all of my attention, without having to worry about things like my diet,” expressed Maziya.

Simanga mentioned that the AJC would serve as a qualifier for profession­als. Meanwhile, Simanga has been competing at a profession­al

“When I started, I competed in the less than 75kg category, which was quite light to what I wanted to weigh.

“As I continued, my weight improved as well. As of now, I currently weigh less than 90kg,” mentioned Maziya.

For the AJC, all competitor­s should have been fully registered online by June 26, this year.

Specific

Bodybuilde­rs usually need a specific diet in order to build the muscles or divisions they need for competing.

For example, a bodybuilde­r weighing less than 90kg might consume 40-50 grammes of protein at 8–9am for breakfast, then train at 1am.

They have 40-50 grammes of protein at 12-1pm for lunch or post-training; 40-50 grammes of protein at dinner between 5-6pm; and then a final meal of 40-50 grams of non-protein at 9-10 pm before heading to bed by 11pm.
