Mkhulu accused of teaching granddaughter sexual acts
MANZINI – An elderly man who has previously served a sentence for rape has been arrested for purportedly teaching his granddaughter sexual acts.
0ichael ( ) served a -year imprisonment sentence for the rape of his granddaughter. This time around he is accused of supposedly touching his other -year-old granddaughter )aith and teaching her sexual acts.
The elderly man of 1NiliMi appeared before 0an]ini Acting 0agistrate Sicelo /oNothwayo for contravening Section (d) (ii) of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act.
According to the charge sheet the accused intentionally discussed explained and described the commission of sexual acts with his granddaughter.
It is further revealed that when they met he then invited persuaded and enticed her to commit a sexual act. The alleged offence supposedly happened on )ebruary .
The accused pleaded guilty to the charge. :hen presenting evidence before court )aith revealed that she did not reside at the same compound with her grandfather but was staying at her new parental home.
On the day in Tuestion )aith revealed that her grandfather had reTuested her to come to the main home. She said he taught her about sex and what she was expected to do as a female in the presence of a male.
She detailed that the accused would tell her how to seduce a male and strip naNed. She also revealed some tactics that will not be repeated in this publication due to their sensitivity.
She further told the court that her grandfather said he would show her how these tactics would be done and reTuested her to allow him to perform certain acts. )aith said her grandfather reTuested to have sexual intercourse with her.
Intercourse
She said he would often asN her if she had engaged in sexual intercourse before adding that it would be good if she would start having it with him so that he would teach her how it was done. To this the complainant said she would come bacN later.
She mentioned that he once offered to buy her pi]]a on condition that she did not tell anyone. She said he would compliment her body and tell her that she was well dressed.
She disclosed that he would even touch her when she wore revealing clothes and further hug her. She added that he would also compliment her beauty and would reportedly touch her breasts.
³One night he came to the new house and opened my bedroom since I was alone. +e started calling my name in a soft voice. +e pulled my blanNet and started touching my toes and said I should waNe up since he had arrived ´ she narrated.
)aith elaborated that her grandfather invited her to go to the goat Nraal to have sex there. She mentioned that the accused said this would prevent them from being heard. )aith reportedly told her grandfather that she was still asleep. 1onetheless she said he insisted and pleaded with her to waNe up. She narrated that she refused and the accused expressed his disappointment in her response.
The complainant said she confided in one of her aunts what her grandfather had been saying. She said her aunt asNed why she had been silent all along. In response she said she was scared and did not anticipate that it would escalate to this level. She said she feared how her family would regard her.

During cross examination with the complainant the accused asNed if she was not the one who approached and asNed him to teach her about sex.
+e also asNed if the complainant was not the one who asNed for advice about her relationship to which the complainant responded to the negative. )aith said she would not have the audacity to asN her elder about relationships as she respected him. She said she would rather speaN to a friend on such issues.
