MHLANGATANE

– “All we want to know is just the truth.”

These were the words of Sethu Magagula’s father and her uncles who suddenly died while inside a maize storage tank at Sidwashini at Ntfonjeni. When they were reached for comment, Sethu’s father Sibusiso Magagula, said the explanation of how his daughter died was not satisfactory to him. He said he had been informed about her death but was not content with this.

He said he had seen the tank and did not understand whether she fell and injured herself or inhaled a poisonous substance.

His uncle Mandla Magagula also said he was equally wondering what killed his niece.

Mandla said the plausible explanation was that she could have inhaled something but also wondered why there was blood coming out of her mouth.

Though it was reported that

Sethu had been bleeding from the mouth when she was discovered, the pathologists told family members that the cause of death could not be immediately determined and that there were no visible injuries on the body of the girl.

Mandla said according to information that the family was given by the police through the pathologist, the cause of death was yet to be determined.

He revealed that the pathologist told the family that since the cause of death could not be determined, body tissue had been collected for further testing at a laboratory so that the cause of death could be determined.

Mandla also said they would continue to follow up with the police so that they could be informed about what really caused the death of the girl.

The Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati had confirmed the post-mortem but did not give the details of it.
