Settle matters soonest - EBC

-

MBABANE - The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) has advised aspiring Members of Parliament (MPs) to prepare themselves, earlier for the national elections to avoid being left out.

Communications Officer, Mbonisi Bhembe, however, pointed out that EBC does not interfere between an employer and employee matters.

“Everyone is allowed to vote and be voted for in this coming elections and it would be very disappointing if these allegations are true. EBC can only advise those employees or civil servant to always engage their employers earlier, to avoid such from happening.

“We can only advise them to seek the redress of the Industrial Court in the country.

“It is only the members of EBC staff that cannot be elected during the national elections,” Bhembe pointed out.

It is worth noting that every time there are national elections, there are complaints of sabotage whereby outgoing

MPs would be e implicated in such allegations.

Unlike in the 2018 National Elections, where the legislators were relieved of their duties before they started, this time around the MPs are still in office yet voter registration has begun.

The aspiring MPs have said that the current outgoing MPs have an advantage over them.

A cop who was interviewed by this publication revealed that he is in a position whereby he would be competing with one of his superiors in the current elections.

“The senior cop approached me and told me that he want me to be his galajane and advised me to flush away my plans of being a new MP.

“We come from the same constituency and I doubt if management will grant me leave of absence for me to gunner for this year’s elections.

“He told me in the face that management will not grant me leave of absence,” alleged the junior cop.
