HStraight Talkers! This week I just thought we could hit the decks and put one of the local Hip Hop DJs in the spotlight just to hear from him what are the things that girls do which boys don’t like. I am pleased to present to you a fast rising DJ, who go by the name of Maphi.

Just to share with you some of the achievements made by this solid DJ, he has shared the stage with the likes of South African musician Lindough, Reece Madlisa as well as K.O.

He is the resident DJ at Ekhayeni Chillaz, alongside the likes of DJ Black Pearl, Snolove, Brother On Cue as well as Convore. Let’s get right into it and find out from Maphi what are some of the things girls do that boys don’t like.

Normally if girls know a guy likes them, they try to keep him at arms length, yet every time the guy wants to spend time he gets excuses after excuses. Let him go. Hurt his feelings if you have to. Don’t mess with a guy’s feelings. This is why many dudes end up playing y’all’s feelings. A taste of your own medicine.

There is a golden rule which says ‘there are no repeats in a DJ’s set’. Bringing in a particular song is a work of art, just enjoy the rest of the masterpiece. Besides, other people may probably leave the dance floor after hearing the same song for the second time. And I’m definitely not compromising the quality of my work just to please people.

When they take selfies behind the decks

Selfies with the DJ are not necessarily a bad thing, as DJs often post pictures with the crowd in background on their social media. This way fans can tag themselves and say ‘I was there!’. But it becomes a different story when you ruin my performance just for a picture behind the DJs booth, just for an Instagram story.

Girls are never on time even when time is against us. I get that you want to make a statement by rocking the perfect look when you go out with me, but while doing that please try to be quick and don’t ruin the moment. You can take all the time you need when preparing but when it is time to come out of the room, please do without wasting time deciding on the ideal outfit.

When they cheat on us

It is so hard for a guy to get over the fact that his girl cheated on him. Most times the thought of another guy making love to my girl just makes my stomach sick. And most times, it’s normally a guy you know or have been suspecting for a minute, and confirming that just makes it worse. Now you’re having confidence issues, trying to do things you know aren’t you but you have to try.

When they say ‘All men are the same’

In 2023 that’s still a thing. You can’t compare me to the guy that you came across 570 years ago because I’ve never met that guy. I’m definitely sure we weren’t raised by the same parents. I have brothers who act way differently from me and we come from similar backgrounds. Stop painting us with the same brush.

When they never date a DJ, saying DJs are players.

This is usually said by every girl who doesn’t even have a single DJ friend. DJs are some of the nicest and funniest people I know. Yes, some more than most use it for the wrong reasons, but there are good ones out there, plenty even. But you’ll never know since you don’t date DJs.

Girls who attend groove with no money

Like honestly, bowuyaphi sisi without money. I am aware that some do attend with their money but rather opt to see the guy spending without her money being used. Now we have to make sure your drinks are covered, you have food, probably even sponsor your friends as well. Why not just stay home because the other boys will start getting other ideas now. If I’m buying you and your friends’ drinks, most likely we’re going to have to make certain arrangements.
