– “Please attend the Yellow Epilepsy Charity Half Marathon.”

These were the words of Athletics Eswatini (AE) Communications Officer Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini ahead of the 2024 Yellow Epilepsy Charity Half Marathon penned for the Somhlolo National Stadium on Saturday.

The former (now defunct) Matsapha United Public Relations (PRO)’s plea comes after clubs affiliated to AE shunned activities under the organisation’s banner in recent time.

Dlamini said they would be happy as AE to see clubs taking part in the event, which he described as one for a good course. This he said was due to the fact that the proceedings from the event would be channelled towards helping those suffering from epilepsy in the country.

“I would like to encourage clubs who are affiliated to AE to attend this event. I would like to also extend our invite to senior government officials to come in their numbers as a way of leading by example,” Dlamini said.

He further revealed the routes for the three categories, which will all start at the OlympAfrica entrance next to the Somhlolo National Stadium.

‘Mavikane’ said the 21km from the starting point would take the road towards the Lobamba Police Station, up to Mashibhini, down towards the Lobamba Clinic. Upon reaching the Lobamba Clinic it would take the Mahlanya road and at Mahlanya, turn to the probase road towards Lobamba Lomdzala High School.

He said just after passing the school it would then take the gravel, road towards Lozitha, passing the bridge and turn left using the D32 Road and under the bridge to Lobamba back to the starting point.
