MBABANE – Gospel musician Scara Maziya has confirmed that he recently joined South African radio station Pongola FM.

The award-winning Gospel musician confirmed the news with this publication during an interview, where he highlighted that he joined the radio station late last year. Scara Maziya is not only a musician, but also a pastor and a motivational speaker. In 2022, he won ‘Best Male Gospel Artist’ during the Eswatini Gospel Music Awards and went on to win ‘Best Gospel Songwriter of the Year’ during the recent Swazi Fest Writers Awards, which were hosted at the Southern Africa Nazarene University (SANU) in December. He is now looking to widen his base in South Africa alongside Pongola FM, which is a community radio station, based in KwaZulu-Natal.

During an interview with Scara Maziya, he opened up about his experience of having joined the radio station. “I joined the radio station last year; this was through taking one of their theory classes, where I practised. I was then taken in because they admired my talent. I am happy to have joined the radio station as well as trying and experiencing new things. I am one person who believes that in life, you have to embrace growth when it comes to trying new things. This is a big achievement for me because I am a Gospel musician, who is currently venturing into radio presenting and music production,” Maziya said.

He went on to share that he joined the radio station last year, but started working this year. “As I have said, I joined last year; however, I started being their presenter this year. I am happy to be part of the South African media and so far I am enjoying the new challenge. This is a full-time job, and I will continue to minister in song because that is my calling. I believe that a lot of people are able to be healed through my music, so I don’t want to give up on music,” he said.

Scara Maziya has already had a session on air with local musician Phetsile Masilela, who was recently interviewed by the radio station. Worth mentioning is the fact that he is not the only local Gospel musician who is currently making music in South Africa. Nduduzo Matse is also one of the musicians who are breaking ground in the rainbow nation, where he recently opened a church.
