Bayethe as foreign delegates praise King’s speech
LOBAMABA – ‘Nice, good and great’are some of the words some foreign delegates used to describe His Majesty’s speech for the Official Opening of the first session of the 12th Parliament.
The King officially opened the first session yesterday. The parliamentarians are expected to serve a five-year term which will end in 2028, marking 60 years of the country’s independence.
Several foreign delegates showered praises on His Majesty following his captivating speech delivered yesterday. The King graciously welcomed delegates from numerous countries, including representatives from esteemed organisations like the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the European Union (EU). Notably, a representative from the United Kingdom (UK) was also present.
It has become a custom for His Majesty to welcome foreign delegates at major events such as the Official Opening of Parliament.
As each delegate was introduced, they expressed their admiration for the King’s Speech, highlighting its positive impact. One of the officials said, “It was a nice speech, Your Majesty,” prompting the King to respond with a humble acknowledgement, stating that “A nice speech is easier to implement.”
Maintaining his smile throughout, His Majesty engaged in conversations with the delegates, expressing his gratitude for their presence at the national event. Also, among the delegates were representatives from Russia and also the United States of America (USA).
Additionally, the EU representative lauded the King’s Speech for its focus on international solidarity and the significance of partnerships in addressing global issues.
The representative emphasised the importance of fostering strong alliances within the European Union and with countries outside the bloc, stating, “His Majesty’s vision resonates with our core values of unity and co-operation.”
The King also used the opportunity to encourage one of the foreign delegates by asking about projects he was engaged in. The official stated that he had stalled on his projects because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the King encouraged him that the pandemic was now under control.
