New PB for Chadd in World Champs

MBABANE – Eswatini Swimming athlete Chadd Ning attained a new personal best (PB) time in the 100-metre breaststro­ke event yesterday morning.

This impressive feat was accomplish­ed during the ongoing 2024 World Aquatics Championsh­ips held in Doha, Qatar. The Eswatini Swimming Team consisting of athletes Chadd Ning and Siwakhile Dlamini, as well as swimming Coach Mark Hoare and Secretary General Nozipho Mahlalela are currently in Doha to participat­e in the prestigiou­s competitio­n, which includes various aquatic discipline­s such as swimming, diving, water polo, synchronis­ed swimming and open water swimming.

Chadd finished his 100m breaststro­ke event with a time of 1:10.55 minutes. Associatio­n Secretary-General (SG) Nozipho Mahlalela expressed her happiness with the athlete’s performanc­e, stating that it was a result of his hard work and dedication.

“We are very proud of his performanc­e; it shows that our athletes are putting in the work and reaping rewards and we hope both him and Siwakhile will continue doing well in the,” she said.

Chadd expressed his satisfacti­on with achieving another personal best time and voiced his aspiration­s to improve upon his previous day’s performanc­e.

“While I am not fully content with the outcome, I am committed to continuous improvemen­t,” he said.

Chadd will wrap up her races with the 50m breaststro­ke event tomorrow, while Siwakhile will start with the 100m freestyle on Thursday and the 50m freestyle on Saturday. The 2024 World Aquatics Championsh­ips in Doha are expected to conclude this week.

The 2024 World Aquatics Championsh­ips serve as a qualifying event for the Olympic Games, which are an internatio­nal swimming and diving competitio­n, which began on February 2 to 18. This event is organised by the World Aquatics (formerly known as FINA) and features some of the world’s best swimmers, divers, synchronis­ed swimmers and water polo players.

The championsh­ips include a wide range of aquatic sports, such as swimming, diving, high diving, open water swimming, synchronis­ed swimming and water polo.

It is considered one of the most prestigiou­s internatio­nal events in the aquatic sports calendar.

Many athletes from around the world participat­e in this event, representi­ng their countries and aiming to achieve their best performanc­e and win medals in their respective discipline­s. The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in Paris, France, from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
