Let us not fail Their Majesties – PM
LOBAMBA – Prime Minister Russell Dlamini submitted that parliamentarians would have failed Their Majesties if they did not run with accelerated speed to address the issues outlined by the King in his speech.
While motivating for the adoption of the motion that a humble address be presented to His Majesty King Mswati III, thanking him for the speech he delivered last week Friday, the head of government said the King’s address was not only comprehensive and well-articulated, but it was also people-centred.
He mentioned that it gave them a clear policy direction to follow, as they embarked on the journey of serving the nation. Dlamini highlighted that the King touched on several critical challenges that confronted emaSwati as a nation, at the heart of which was the submissions made by emaSwati themselves, during the Sibaya People’s Parliament in October and November last year.
“His Majesty gave us hope that our economy has the potential to grow to sustainable levels. However, he also left us with a huge challenge, that of ensuring that we continue to rally our efforts behind ensuring that the economy grows to significant proportions. This requires all of us to think outside the box and come up with solutions that will ensure that we do not, even for a second, allow our economy to falter,” he said.
The PM also highlighted that the King was categorically clear about the need to weed out corruption, which, if left unattended, had the potential to entirely topple the country’s economy and further plunge the lives of emaSwati into poverty.
On the health sector, Dlamini mentioned that His Majesty spoke very strongly when charging government to strengthen this sector, in order to ensure that ‘no liSwati died from lack of proper healthcare services’.
“Indeed, one liSwati’s life lost is one too many. We have a responsibility, Mr Speaker, to ensure that all emaSwati are able to access affordable quality healthcare at all times,” he said.
