Development programmes

- WITH MUZI RADEBE EFA’s Marketing and Communications Officer

GOOD day dear reader. I hope you had a splendid week.

One hopes and prays that the spirit of love and happiness that was witnessed on February 14, 2024, can be a daily bread and as a society we can continue to live in the spirit of love, peace and happiness.

Let us make gender-based violence to be non-existence. Football also promotes love, peace and happiness. This is a sport that unites us, thus, it is more than a game.

SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup

During the previous weekend, we witnessed the quarter-finals of the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF) Ingwenyama Cup at Mayaluka Stadium and the Mavuso Sports Centre.

A special thank you goes to the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima, Prince Hlangabeza, Senior Football Officials and the SMVFA’s senior officials, as well as staff for being part of last weekend’s experience in as far as this competition is concerned.

Big-up to the football teams that entertained us and credit to the fans who attended these matches as their presence enhanced the atmosphere in both venues.

Without them, the atmosphere was going to be dull, thus, they are a significant stakeholder of football.

Congratulations to the teams that qualified for the semi-finals and they must note that the time for celebrating their achievement is short-lived, as now they must dig deep as the next round is tougher.

Hard luck to the teams that were knocked out, however, what matters most is that football was the ultimate winner. It is quite interesting to hear the fans anticipating the yet to be conducted semi-finals draw, which is an indication that this is an interesting competition. Of course, we cannot wait for the draw. #Ibuyile.

RES Siyakha 1 800 Football Development Programme

Today marks the kick-off of the Under-13 and U-15 RES Siyakha 1 800 Football Development Programme. This football development programme is implemented in the Lubombo Region and it plays a crucial role in unearthing and developing young talent from the region.

The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) and the Lubombo Regional Football Association (LRFA) will always remain indebted to the RES for the investment towards football development in the country.

The EFA also urges other organisations to partner with football towards the implementation of such programmes as they immensely contribute towards the socio-economic development of the country. Parents are urged to attend these games as their presence brings that extra motivation for these youngsters.

Basic coaching course

The registration for the basic coaching course is still open. If you are passionate about being a football coach, have completed high school, with 10 years playing experience and have an enabling body, you can register via the Regional Football Associations.

This course is scheduled to commence on March 2, 2024. The content for this course includes the development of the coaching philosophy, style of leadership, development of technical elements and tactics, and player development to mention but a few.

Till next week, football for all and safe life for all.
