MBABANE – Meluleki Sikhondze’s metamorphosis would not have materialised without his consistency.
In this interview, the 27-yearold explains the pivotal role immutability played in his muscle-building journey.
He asserts that without consistency, nothing substantial can be achieved, emphasising that merely starting is insufficient without maintaining steadfastness. Enjoy as he takes you through his transformation journey.
When did you start training and what was the motivation behind it?
“I started training in 2022 to build muscles, self-confidence and discipline.”
What was your weight then compared to now?
“I weighed 64kg now I am at 78kg.”

“Eating good, eating a lot, food with a lot of protein, fats, and carbs contributed to my weight gain.”

What challenges do you normally encounter in keeping up with your new lifestyle, and how do you handle them?
“With the workouts I don’t have any challenges, but the problem is the kitchen. Not every time will you get all the nutrients the body needs to build muscles.”
How has your life improved so far, and how do you impact the people, especially women, in your circle or community?
“The consistency in the gym has instilled discipline and patience in me. It has trained my mind; nothing can beat a strong mind. If you need something, you can achieve it no matter how hard or how long it takes.”
What are your weight and fitness goals within a specific time frame? How difficult or easy will it be to achieve those goals?
“My main aim is by 2025 to have gained a little bit from my current weight so I can improve my muscles too. And it won’t be hard because I have a good mentor in Coach Thabiso Msibi.”
What advice can you share with other people who face weight challenges, but lack the courage to start exercising and make it a lifestyle?
“My advice to other people is to start slow, be patient, be disciplined and be consistent. It doesn’t happen overnight.”

“I hated every minute of training, but I said, don’t quit, suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion’ - Muhammad Ali.”
