The Eswatini Institute of Music and Art has announced that they are now admitting interested candidates to study music and art. The Eswatini Institute of Music and Art is Eswatini’s first music college, founded by the non-profit organisation Africa Ntjilo Empowerment. In cooperation with professional musicians and music faculty in the US, South Korea, Europe, and South Africa, it currently provides a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education (BME) for young adults in Eswatini. Lectures and intensive workshops are facilitated both online and onsite. Worth mentioning is the fact that in Eswatini, there have been a number of attempts to incorporate the arts into public school learning. A music
curriculum has been developed; however, there are no teachers to teach it. Through the ‘Bachelor in Music Education programme’, the Eswatini Institute of Music and Art aims to fill this gap.

In a bid to help design more national programming in the arts sector, Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture will launch and host a summit. An arts summit can be described as a gathering of creative minds, industry professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders within the arts sector, coming together to discuss, strategise, and collaborate on the development and advancement of the artistic landscape. It serves as a platform for dialogue, exchange of ideas, and the formulation of strategies to enhance the creative sector. This was revealed by the ENCAC CEO, Stanley Dlamini, when asked about the strategies the council was to enforce in order to better manage the budget to be allocated to the arts sector this year. “We will be launching the policy and a summit soon. This will help in designing more national programming in the arts sector,” said Dlamini.
Top Models Eswatini (TME) have announced that they will host modeling auditions at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre in preparation for the upcoming Eswatini Biggest Braai. The auditions will be hosted on March 24, and aspiring models are set to grace the runway as early as 10am. This was revealed by TME Director Mbalanhle Manana, during an interview with this publication, where she shared that they will be collaborating with another agency to conduct these auditions. “The auditions are organised by Top Models Eswatini for Eswatini International Fashion Week 3rd Edition, which is a fastgrowing brand at the Eswatini Biggest Braai event and very famous in the fashion industry in Africa,” Manana said. She further mentioned that such collaborations are yet to come this year. “This year we will be collaborating with agencies; models signed under agencies, not models without agencies. We are giving every model in Eswatini signed under an agency to come and have fun with us and to learn one or a few things in the fashion and modeling world, knowing that most of these models are local. There are models who never travel to showcase outside the country. Most of the few who have, were successful through Top Models Eswatini,” she said.
