MBABANE – Rookies Pigg’s Peak Rangers were on the wrong end of Malanti Chiefs’ Nkosingiphile Dlamini master-class performance at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground, as they fell to a 5-1 defeat in an MTN National First Division (NFD) match yesterday.

The marauding striker scored three while veteran Sandile ‘Lion’ Mazibuko grabbed a brace en route to taking the bragging rights and the maximum points in an MTN NFD Pigg’s Peak derby played in the city. This match was preceded by that of another Pigg’s Peak outfit Black Swallows, who were up against Tambankulu Celtics, the latter won 2-1.

It was the host that opened the floodgates against the run of play as the visitors dominated the first 10 minutes of the game. They threatened to break the deadlock as they attacked endlessly but Malanti Chiefs took them by surprise as they got the opener eight

minutes before the half-hour mark through Mazibuko, who nodded home a telling cross from Given Lukhele.

Bafana Bemboyi’s joy was shortlived as Rangers levelled matters three minutes later through Yandisa Khumalo, who headed home a set-piece from Vukani Mazibuko. The score at half time was levelled.

PURSUIT

The second stanza saw Malanti Chiefs, who were watch by their Director Dumsani Gumedze engaging another gear in pursuit of the maximum points. It was Man of Match Nkosingiphile, who was the chief tormentor as he went on to score three goals. The first one coming in the 53rd minute, while the scored came at the hour mark and he grabbed his hattrick five minutes later.

The result saw Malanti Chiefs dethroning Lozitha Spurs from the fourth spot, while their rivals maintained position six in the standing.
