Sands’ ‘Tigi’ on new Netflix movie
MBABANE - Sands hit single ‘Tigi’ establishes the vibrant mood for a new South African romance movie titled ‘Soweto Love Story’, currently making waves on Netflix.
This movie is already running on Netflix and features former cast members from legendary productions such as The Wife, Uzalo, and Yizo Yizo. This is all about a South African comedy film. It follows Bongekile, a determined mother who sets the challenge for her three sons to get married, but when this does not happen, she takes the situation into her own hands. Bongekile promises the coveted palace of their Ngubeni family to any one of her three sons who marries first and challenges them for the same. Thus, the boys race against time to prove to their mother that they are worthy of the family by marrying first.
Actors
The Soweto Love Story movie’s main actors are Duduzile Ngcobo, known as Bongekile; Lunga Shabalala, known as Sandile; Sparky Zulu, known as Menzi; and Ray Neo Buso, known as Sky, among others.
Sands’ journey as an artist began in high school when his brother-in-law gifted him with a guitar and taught him a few chores, which then made him start singing and practising with his guitar.
In an interview with this publication, Sands expressed his excitement and said he was happy that his hard work was paying off and he appreciated the producers of the movie for featuring his song. He said he was very humbled to know that it will be there forever, making good memories for him.
“Netflix is an international platform that makes my music heard by everyone in the whole world, he said. He concluded and said for the song, he is going to receive royalties, which means whenever the song is being played, he receives a certain amount.
‘Tigi’ first captured the hearts of listeners back in 2016, when it became a crossover song on Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) and various stations in
South Africa, Mpumalanga.
Sandziso Matsebula grew up as the only child; hence, his imagination was broadened by having to create imaginary friends while playing, so that sparked his creativity.
He never considered taking it as a career, but grew up in a family that understood music. Music is not something his family always supported, so he had to be a bit stubborn and work harder to craft the quality of his music, which without doubt worked because all odds were against him.
He grew up listening to the likes of Bra Hugh Masekela and Tsepo Tsola.
