Respect Maape’s privacy
JOHANNESBURG - North West Acting Premier Nono Maloyi has appealed to the public to respect the privacy of Premier Bushy Maape. Maloyi made this plea while delivering the State of the Province Address (SOPA) at the provincial legislature in Mahikeng. He was appointed to act in this position, due to Maape’s illness. Maloyi says, “It is my great honour to have been appointed by Premier Kaobitsa Bushy Maape to act on his behalf and have the unique opportunity to deliver the State of the Province Address.”
US Powerball sued
WASHINGTON - A Washington DC man has sued Powerball for US$340million after he claimed he was unfairly denied prize money despite having the winning numbers that were displayed on the website. John Cheeks purchased a Powerball ticket on January 6, 2023, and chose his numbers based on his family members’ birthdays. He missed watching the live drawing the following day, but discovered on January 8 that his numbers matched what he found on the DC lottery website and saw the whopping US$320 million prize. He soon realised the numbers on the website and ticket did not match the numbers that were drawn on TV, even though his numbers were displayed online for three days, the lawsuit claimed.
Teacher recovering
JOHANNESBURG - A teacher is on the mend after he was allegedly viciously assaulted by a Grade 7 pupil at a Limpopo school last week. The incident happened at Rammupudu Primary l in Tafelkop last Monday, according to Limpopo police. Police said the alleged attack happened after the two got into a heated altercation over the removal of posters from the teacher’s classroom.
JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) has confirmed that it has received cadre deployment records from the African National Congress (ANC) following the Constitutional Court deadline of Monday.
The DA had threatened to take legal action if the ANC failed to meet the 5pm deadline on Monday.
ANC national Spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said they handed over the records to the DA by the close of business.
