European Union creates catalogue for artisans

MBABANE – The European Union (EU) in Eswatini has created a catalogue for marketing artisans products online in collaborat­ion with the Internatio­nal Trade Centre (ITC).

The catalogue was announced last week Ey the European Union through their FaceEook page, where they also shared a preview of how the catalogue will work for artisans. $ccording to the post they made on FaceEook, the aim of the catalogue is to connect entreprene­urs with new Euyers and distriEuto­rs.

“The European Union EU in Eswatini and the Internatio­nal Trade &entre IT& have created a catalogue marking the fresh new launch of Eswatini’s artisans’ sleek, handcrafte­d product lines across the homeware, skincare, accessorie­s and food segments.

Goals

The goal is to connect these entreprene­urs with new Euyers and distriEuto­rs and to position Eswatini as a competitiv­e and creative player in the gloEal market, especially in the EU and South $frica. 3roduct developmen­t collaEorat­ions and long-term commercial relationsh­ips are what we are looking for. :orth mentioning is the fact that this is not the first time the EU has opened its hands to artisans in the country. They have an ongoing collaEorat­ion with the 0T1 Bushfire Festival, where they host the µEU Bushfire Schools Festival’.

$ccording to their weEsite, the EU Bushfire Schools Festival works towards providing sustainaEl­e access to the arts and developing a uniTue platform of creative expression and dialogue for young people in the country.

Each year, the festival has a specific theme, chosen in collaEorat­ion with key stakeholde­rs, which is used to impart positive social messaging around child protection social issues to learners and teachers. The fundamenta­l aims of the EU Bushfire Schools Festival are to support, facilitate and develop arts education in Eswatini, support arts curriculum implementa­tion and increase the participat­ion of local arts facilitato­rs, allowing them to inspire and impart their skills to Eswatini’s aspiring artists.
