MANZINI – As the Ingwenyama Cup culture competitions are in full swing in the regions, competitors ensure spectators eat out of the palms of their hands.

In the spotlight yesterday were competitors from the Manzini Region after the first competition in the Shiselweni Region a day earlier.

The culture competitions are part of the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF) tournament that flawlessly blends soccer with culture.

Yesterday, about 80 participants set the venue ablaze in front of the Ingwenyama Cup Board Chairman Prince Hlangabeza, Ministers of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima, chiefs and other top brass from the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) and Premier League of Eswatini (PLE).

It all began with Sibhaca dances, where 13 chiefdoms had registered to eliminate each other in a bid to win the ultimate E50 000 prize during the national phase.

It was a feast for the eyes as maiden girls also showcased their skills and art in traditional dance. What was astonishing and adding flair was Ndinda, who also brought its young maidens (emabhaca) who left most people in awe.

As the spectators were still savouring what they saw, Lobamba Lomdzala showcased young talent on drums.

Three boys below the age of 10 hit the drums flawlessly.

As the stage was warm, ingadla took the stage, giving judges a hard time in the office to pick the outstanding team. Around 4pm, the arena was still pregnant with expectations, waiting with bated breath for emajaha regiments to showcase their skill.

Teams stole the show with new and innovative dance skills, traditional regalia and modern songs.
