SBS Netball League: REPS ‘smash’ Mankayane ladies
LOBAMBA – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) elite ladies showed no mercy for Mankayane ladies team as they trashed them 114-8 in their match held here yesterday.
The first round champions dominated in all the quarters leading in the score sheet until the final quarter of the game. REPS dominated in the first and second quarter of the game outclassing their opponents with height and experience. In the first quarter, REPS led with 35-8 and continued with the same effort even in the second quarter outclassing their opponents with an embarrassing 31-0.
Mankayane ladies, who were still finding their feet in the game were unfortunate as they did not win even a single quarter against REPS. REPS made sure they blocked their iron ring throughout the last three quarters. Even though it was all clear that REPS had already won the match, they continued to display their supremacy and scored 28-0 and 20-0 in the last two quarters of the match.
REPS captain Batsabile Nkambule revealed that their success in winning the game lies in spending more time in training. “The game was good, it wasn’t tough for us as we were playing against a small team, but getting such results shows how much we are dedicated, and how much we give ourselves time into training. Whenever we go to a match, we make sure we play to win,” Nkambule said. Meanwhile, Mankayane ladies team Captain Gugu Shabalala said their defeat was a result of lack of training. “I think we lost the game because we did not give ourselves more time to train. REPS proved to be more experienced and stronger than us and we are learning a lot from them,” Shabalala said.
