Four-ceful Malanti too strong for Lozitha

MBABANE – Former Premier League side Malanti Chiefs crushed Lozitha Spurs by 4-0 to keep their promotion hopes alive.

It was a see-saw in the first half with both teams seeking to prove a point to each other. The Prince of Wales Sports Ground witnessed this encounter infront of over 50 spectators. Malanti Chiefs’ Nkosingiph­ile Dlamini’s shot hit the ball above post in the 5th minute while Spurs Mcebisi Nhlabatsi suffered the same fate five minutes later.

Spurs Captain Mxolisi Hlongwane made a mistake which cost his team dearly in the 12th minute breaking the deadlock by hitting the ball home, leaving goalkeeper Bhekisisa Sikhondze helpless. In additional time of the first half, Chiefs shot-stopper Bongiswa Dlamini made great a save from a free kick.

Meanwhile, Chiefs extended their lead, courtesy of Sandile Mazibuko’s cross landing straight onto a foot of Nkosingiph­ile, who hit the ball past the sticks of Sikhondze in the 25th minute.

EQUALISER

The Vusisizwe Mahlalela led-side attempted an equaliser through Siphamandl­a Mamba’s shot outside the 18 yard, which was rendered fruitless. The Christophe­r Tembo side Chiefs was leading 2-0 when the whistle was blown at half-time.

Spurs made triple substituti­on just minutes into second half Sibonkosi Mavuso, Mcebisi Nhlabatsi and Bandzile Vilakati were replaced by Neliswa Nxumalo, Mduduzi Dlamini and Mndeni Dlamini.

On the other hand, Chiefs stretched their lead in the 47th minute through Mazibuko’s leaving Sikhondze in sleeping position. Furthermor­e, Chiefs skipper Mcolisi Lukhele added the fourth in the 49th minute. Malanti was leading 4-0 when the final whistle was blown.
