... 583 benefit from Taiwan medical outreach

MBABANE – A total of 583 people benefitted from the Taiwan Medical Mission outreach held at Mantambe under Shiselweni I Constituency over the weekend.

Medical specialists led by the Minister to the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Eswatini, Ching-lin Tsuei provided free medical services, which included ultrasound check-ups, specialists’ consultations and medication to residents at a temporal facility at Mantambe Primary School.

Shiselweni I Member of Parliament (MP), Shawnette Henwood appreciated the medical assistance for the medical mission, citing that residents needed the help as health facilities are very far.

Henwood said a number of people were not able to afford transport expenses to visit the health facilities.

According to the MP, such a service would go a long way as the residents will receive all their prescribed medication.

³The people do not have money to visit the facilities. Even when they have visited the clinics, they do not get the medication prescribed, which forces them to buy the medication in pharmacies,” she said.

She went on to appreciate getting the bags of rice received by the residents, citing that many were from poverty-stricken families, as such the rice was a relief to them.

Meanwhile, May Ndlangamandla a resident appreciated the Medical Mission for providing the service to the community. Ndlangamandla said they were not able to visit the health facilities as they could not afford the transport fees.

She said through the medical service, they were able to get all the prescribed medication.

Ndlangamandla was anchored by Alvina Zitha, who said the elderly struggle to get to the health facilities.

Zitha said they have to pay for taxis with the money they do not have to transport them to health facilities whenever there is a need.

She called upon the medical mission to visit the community more often so that they could benefit from the free services.
