The root of the conflict was a previous incident in which 0khatshwa was found beating a group of individuals, who were reportedly under the influence of alcohol, alongside other members of 1kwalini community police. The accused told the court president that he tried to intervene to stop the violence and come to the rescue of the individuals, who were severely beaten up by the community police.

Drunk

:hen 0khatshwa was asked to narrate the story, he said that as community police members, they were trying to discipline individuals who were drunk and behaving badly. He said while they were disciplining the people, 0agongo appeared to rescue them and said he would rather be the one being beaten, not the drunk people.

In court, 0agongo denied the allegations and said he was not Jesus that he could be beaten up for the wrongs of other people.

“I am not Jesus that I should suffer for the sins of others,´ he said.

0agongo raised concerns about the behaviour of the members of the community police, when ever they were under the influence of alcohol. He shared with the court that the community police tended to discipline individuals in a wrongful and unaccepted manner and that was what made him to come to the rescue of the individuals who were being beaten up.

$s a result of the incident, 0agongo was sen tenced to si[ months imprisonment with the option to pay a fine of E600.
