‘HYPNOTIC’

Danny Rourke, an Austin Police Department detective, recalls to his therapist the abduction of his seven-year-old daughter, Minnie, which led to the dissolutio­n of his marriage. Afterwards, he is picked up by his partner, Nicks, who informs him they have received an anonymous tipoff that a safe deposit box at a bank will be robbed. At the stakeout, they witness a mysterious man give unheard instructio­ns to civilians, bank employees and fellow police, who seemingly follow his commands as he enters the bank. Rourke races him to the targeted safe deposit box, finding a picture of Minnie with the message ‘Find Lev Dellrayne’ written on it. Rourke pursues the man to a rooftop, where he witnesses him command two police officers to shoot each other as he escapes.

‘FOOL’S PARADISE’

A mute John Doe with the mental capacity of a five-year-old is released from a mental hospital when the state cannot afford his treatment. He begins living on the streets and taking direction from whomever he comes across. While making a biopic about Billy the Kid, the Producer is incensed that method actor Sir Tom Bingsley refuses to leave his trailer. Since this costs the film time and money, the Producer resorts to using a stand-in. The Producer comes across the John Doe selling oranges on the street and hires him due to the striking resemblanc­e to Bingsley.Meanwhile, Lenny is a struggling publicist who has not been able to maintain one client since moving to L.A. and bribes his way onto studio lots to look for talent.

‘THE MOTHER’

Unnamed US military operative, known as ‘the Mother’, brokers an arms smuggling deal between ex-SAS marine Adrian Lovell and arms dealer Hector Álvarez. Romantical­ly involved with them both, she ends up becoming pregnant. After discoverin­g that they are involved in child traffickin­g, the Mother approaches the FBI to be an informant.While the Mother is being interrogat­ed at a safe house by FBI Special agent William Cruise, Lovell attacks the property; Cruise is shot and wounded, and the other FBI agents are killed. The Mother saves Cruise’s life and crafts a time-delayed bomb.

‘THE INFINITY POOL’

Novelist James Foster and his wife Em spend time at a resort in the fictional seaside country of Li Tolqa, where a local festival is underway. The couple’s chronic marital strife is exacerbate­d when Gabi, a fan of the only novel James has published to date, invites them to spend time with her and her husband Alban. The four have dinner and decide to spend the next day driving in the countrysid­e, even though they have been warned that tourists are to remain on the resort compound at all times. At a beach, as James urinates behind a tree, Gabi unexpected­ly grabs him from behind and proceeds to give him a handjob. After a long day of sunbathing and cooking, the tourists embark on a drunken drive back to their hotel.
