... want to elect new committee

-

BUHLENI – While the squabble among the members of the Buhleni Transport Association continues, another faction has formed its own committee.

The newly-formed committee wants the association to hold elections and elect a new committee.

Siboniso Dlamini, who is the secretary of the newly-formed committee confirmed the situation, adding that theirs would act as an interim committee.

He said the purpose is that they would continue to manage the operations of the bus rank when the current committee steps down.

Dlamini stated that on March 16, 2024, they will hold a meeting and expect that all members should attend.

He said during the meeting, the current committee is expected to produce a financial report so that the members see how the funds have been used.

Further, Dlamini stated that if the committee would not step down, the situation of the two committees would continue.

He said this would mean that there would be two different committees.

Dlamini was asked if this situation would not the affect the commuters.

However, he said this would not be the case as the operations were still running smoothly.

He said that he was also aware of a standoff that took place last Wednesday, whereby the entrance of the bus rank was closed off to block some vehicles.

“This had nothing to do with the differences within the organisation,” stated Dlamini.

Just like Shabangu, Dlamini said the reason of the standoff was because of the route dispute with some vehicles that move from Matsamo to Manzini via Buhleni.

Noteworthy, the dispute is happening now as the town is fast-growing resulting in more people travelling.

About a week ago, His Majesty the King toured the town’s recently constructed projects that cost over E850 million.

The King also toured the Buhleni Fun City which is still under construction.

He was also given a view of the ongoing infrastructure construction which includes roads, drainage systems and also division of plots around the fast-growing town.
