MBABANE – Dynamic South African duo Blaq Diamond emerged stronger after a legal battle with Ambitiouz Entertainment, unveiling their brainchild, Umuthi Records, a platform dedicated to empowering fresh talent.
Emerging from a legal battle with Ambitiouz Entertainment, they redefined the industry’s landscape with their new record, which will be launched in the kingdom.
The news was revealed by MegaSound Events Director Samkelo ‘Zulu D’ Zulu, who will be partnering with the South African stable for a festival to be held on April 18.
The event, which is set to take place at Mavuso Trade Centre at the outdoor arena, is set to feature performances from Blaq Diamond among other artists. “MegaSound Events and Umuthi Records have partnered and we will be hosting an event dubbed ‘Umuthi Fest’.
“The main artists are the gentlemen behind the SA stable; Blaq Diamond and more artists are yet to be revealed,” said Zulu.
The Blaq Diamond duo, whose real names are Siphelele and Ndumiso, are crafting a legacy of empowerment through this label, which, in its inception, came out as a platform for young and upcoming artists to grow themselves and ultimately their talent.
Umuthi Records is not just a label; it’s a nurturing ground for burgeoning talent.
Their vision is a symphony of mentorship, envisioning a future where artists cultivate artists.

After Blaq Diamond won their case to interdict Ambitiouz Entertainment from removing their music from YouTube and all digital streaming platforms (DSPs), they fought vigorously to make their brainchild work.
During the duo’s sit-down on Podcast and Chill, the ‘Summer Yomuthi’ hitmakers said they parted ways with the record label in December 2021 to grow a bigger market.
“It feels great to be independent. I’m in love with the challenges because I’m learning a lot about how to run my schedule on a daily basis and how to separate music from business. I’m thankful that we met Ambitiouz (Entertainment).
“Now we are lucky to be independent and moving forward,” Siphelele told TshisaLIVE.
