Lenny Kravitz honoured with star
LOS ANGELES - Lenny Kravitz was joined by his beloved daughter, Zoe Kravitz and Denzel Washington as he was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday. The Fly Away hitmaker, 59, looked delighted as he posed with Zoe, 35 and pal of 30 years Denzel, 69, on his newly-unveiled star.
Lenny looked typically hunky in an unbuttoned black silk shirt and pinstripe trousers, paired with gold jewelry and a blazer. The star tied his locks back and sported his signature shades. Zoe, who Lenny shares with ex-wife Lisa Bonet, looked sensational in a backless and strapless powder blue top paired with a black wrap skirt. While Oscar winner Denzel opted for a casual look as he donned an Adidas tracksuit for the occasion.
Engagement
Zoe’s fiance Channing Tatum, 43, was also in attendance as he put on a loved-up display with his wife-to-be as she flashed her engagement ring.
The Batman star paid loving tribute to her dad in a speech on the day, saying: ‘Being your daughter has been one of the great adventures of my life. Since you were so young when I was born, in many ways we have grown up together, we hve been through a lot, we have seen a lot.
I have seen a lot. ‘‘I have seen you change in the most beautiful ways, I have seen you stay the same in the most important ways, I have seen you show up and take care of the people you love, I have seen your incredible dedication to your art – but mostly, I have seen through your shirts. ‘‘According to my dad, if it does not expose your nipples, it is not a shirt. And sure, it used to embarrass me when you would pick me up from school as a kid, but I got to say at this point, I respect it. ‘‘My whole life people always ask me what it is like to have such a cool dad and the answer is, awesome. It is awesome – but not for the reasons some might think.
‘‘Your rad-ness does not come from your shades, or leather pants, or knitted shirts, it comes from your true love of life. ‘‘Everything you do is an expression of that love – your music, your lyrics, your live performances, your homes, your love of food, of family, of good conversations, stupid jokes, dance parties, late night kitchen talks – you absolutely devour life.’’
A combination of rock and funk with a 1960s retro vibe, initially critics were torn between him being a gifted new artist, while others thought he relied too much on his musical influence of the 60s-70s.
