‘Saviola’ to bounce back to Sihlangu

MBABANE – Young Buffaloes Sandile ‘Saviola’ Gamedze has reportedly bounced back to the national team Sihlangu.

The seasoned attacker was not part of the initial, squad that was selected by the Dominic Kuneneled technical bench.

According to reliable reports, the player has been involved in national team duties.

Gamedze joined the other players in their recent trip to Mozambique, where they were set to play a practice match against the Mozambican top side, Black bulls on Wednesday.

Due to the heavy rains that were experience­d as result of Cyclone FILIPO, they could not proceed with the match. According to well-placed source in the team, the player also played in the Wednesday game against Manzini Sea Birds as well as two matches against Mbabane Swallows and Nsingizini Hotspurs.

Shooter

The army-side’s sharp shooter was last selected for the national duties in June last year ahead of the TotalEnerg­ies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Togo.

Eswatini Football Associatio­n (EFA) then dropped him from Dominic Kunene’s led squad on June 8.

The attacker, who won the man of the match twice during the 2022 Council of Southern Africa Football Associatio­ns (COSAFA) Senior Men’s Championsh­ips, is at his best so far this season.

He is contesting for the Ingwenyama Cup Golden Boot Award. He has paired at six Mpucuko ‘Smoothies’ Dlamini and Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa.

On the other hand, he has netted eight league goals, just six shy of Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa.

Other players who are expected to join the camp are include two internatio­nal players.

Sihlangu also played a practice match later in the afternoon yesterday against Shiselweni giants Nsingizini Hotspurs.
