Benny might leave Man Utd

-

MANCHESTER - Manchester United Coach Benni McCarthy has dropped a major hint about his future at the club. The former Blackburn Rovers striker was brought in by the current boss Erik ten Hag in 2022, as a striking coach. Despite a lack of experience, the 46-year-old has grown into the role and has earned plaudits from the likes of Marcus Rashford who enjoyed a career-best season of 30 goals during the last campaign.

McCarthy admitted that with the knowledge he has gained during his time with the Premier League, he’ll want to follow his dream of becoming a manager, the Mirror reports.

Contributed

Talking to YOU Magazine, McCarthy said: “With the knowledge I’ve gained and everything I’ve contributed to the team I want to take that and then eventually become a manager. Because once you’ve sat in the hot seat at a club and you’ve experienced the adrenaline of decision-making and leading, you want to experience that again one day.”

According to the Daily Mail, the former South Africa international’s time at Old Trafford has seen him teach the club’s strikers how to time runs, when to attack space and when to hold their position, with his work, especially paying off for Marcus Rashford.

The Englishman has previously shared on the help he’s received from McCarty as he said: “He’s definitely helped me a lot.

“To have attack-minded coaches is good for us. He’s always there speaking to us about these things.”

Netting

Unfortunately for Rashford, he’s failed to recreate his top form from last season, netting just seven goals in all competitions, but in a recent letter penned to the Players’ Tribune, the 26-year-old insisted the Red Devils will once be back among the best teams in the world.

“We will be back where we belong,” he wrote.

“We just have to keep working, and that starts with me.

“If you back me, good. If you doubt me, even better”.
