Dominic skeptical of Somalia
MBABANE – The national team Sihlangu coach, Dominic Kunene, has expressed his worries about Somalia ahead of next week’s game.
The two nations are set to clash in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) preliminary stages on Wednesday, March 20, in Morocco.
The former Young Buffaloes mentor shared his concerns during a media briefing held at the Lobamba Technical Centre yesterday morning.

“We have observed Somalia’s performance in their recent matches. They have shown significant improvement, especially against Algeria. You cannot underestimate them; they have made strides. It won’t be an easy game, but I trust our players will bring us joy at the end of the match,” Kunene said.
The coach revealed that preparations were progressing well, with all players exerting maximum effort. He believed there was progress, giving him hope for favourable results, despite the anticipated challenge posed by an improved Somalia team.
“We must create scoring opportunities and avoid errors
that could lead to us conceding goals,” he added.
Kunene also mentioned that the squad would be reduced to 20 players from the current 27. The final squad is expected to include two internationals: Justice Figuareido from DStv’s Premiership side Richards Bay and Mxolisi Mkhonto from Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy. Additionally, Sandile ‘Saviola’ Gamedze is a notable local player addition.
Eswatini is scheduled to depart for Morocco tomorrow, where they will play their first leg. The return match is set for Mbombela Stadium on March 26.
