NTT Toyota for Sports Council’s E2.4 million tender
MBABANE – NTT Toyota has been selected with the intention to award a contract to supply the Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council (ESRC) with vehicles valued at E2 422 140.98.
This information comes from a tender notice released by ESRC Board Secretary Nqobile Dlamini. The notice was published a fortnight ago and in accordance with the Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (ESPPRA) Public Procurement Act No.7 of 2011.
NTT Toyota has won this tender to supply three vehicles to the sports council, which would end the council’s transportation challenges that have been ongoing for over a decade.
ESRC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Darius Dlomo stated that among the three vehicles to be procured is a 35-seater bus. This purchase follows the disposal of a 22-seater Sprinter in 2013, which had not been replaced due to budgetary constraints stemming from the economic downturn between 2011 to 2013.
“We used to have a 22-seater Sprinter, which we disposed of in 2013 and did not replace because of budgetary constraints, which were the effects of the 2011-2013 economic downturn in the country,” Dlomo explained.
He added that the bus will benefit sports associations and will also be used by the council during the Shukuma programmes. The next Shukuma event, being the fourth this year, will head to the Timphisini Constituency in the Hhohho Region.
“The third vehicle we intend to buy is a 35-seater bus. It will be used primarily by our sports bodies for international participation assignments and for our Shukuma Eswatini activations,” the
CEO elaborated. In addition to the 35-seater bus, Dlomo revealed that the ESRC currently has two ageing vehicles at their disposal: A seven-seater Toyota sedan and a Toyota van. He said both are 2014 models and a now a decade old.
“Both these cars are 2014 models, now 10 years old, and according to our assets policy, are written off and require to be disposed of to recoup
market value. They will be sold and replaced by a new van and another seven-seater,” Dlomo stated.
It is worth noting that the sports council, as it is known was allocated E19 415 221 for the 2024/25 government financial year.
