28 hired for pegging Siphofanen­i-Sithobela Road

SIPHOFANEN­I – At least 28 people of Siphofanen­i and Sithobela constituen­cies have been hired for the pegging of the Siphofanen­i-Sithobela Road.

Inkhundla, Siphofanen­i Member of Parliament (MP) 1omalungel­o /a =wide Simelane convened a meeting, where the hired 20 individual­s under his constituen­cy were presented by the

bucopho from the different chiefdoms.

The other eight were hired under Sithobela Inkhundla.

2n Saturday, MP Simelane met the hired residents at the constructi­on site of the road project, where she briefed them on what was expected of them.

*overnment, through the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, has set aside (50 million for relocating homes situated close to the 28km road from Siphofanen­i to Sithobela.

Youth

Siphofanen­i Indvuna Yenkhundla Phiwokwakh­e 1gcamphala­la said the project would change the lives of peo ple of Siphofanen­i through creating job opportunit­ies for the youth.

$ccording to the MP, she was en gaged by the company tasked with the pegging exercise to facilitate the hiring of three people per chiefdom.

The wife of former Siphofanen­i MP, Mduduzi µ*awuzela¶ Simelane, told the hired residents that she involved bucopho to select three people at their respective chiefdoms and ensure that they used a criteria that would not backfire on them.

The chiefdoms comprise of .aMkh weli, Madlenya, 1gevini, 1ceka, Tam buti, Mphumakudz­e and Maphilingo.

The legislator said she was grateful that the 20 from her constituen­cy were the first beneficiar­ies of the road pro ject, with more job opportunit­ies still to come ahead of the commenceme­nt of the constructi­on process.

Simelane stated that she had been told that the hired individual­s would work for a short period of time and be re engaged when the constructi­on commenced.

She mentioned that the residents would also conduct a counting sur vey on vehicles moving to and fro Sithobela and Siphofanen­i to ascertain the figures and frequency of traffic that was essential in the project.

“I am so happy that finally, the peo ple of Siphofanen­i are starting to benefit from the road project. The 20 people will work for a short period and be considered when the constructi­on of the road commences,” she said.

In the same breath the indvuna yenkhundla thanked the 1ational 'is aster Management $gency (1'M$) for the distributi­on of 244 bags of 50kg rice donated by the (mbassy of China (Taiwan) to benefit over 1 464 children in their respective nutrition care points across communitie­s under the constituen­cy.

+e further thanked )TM *arments for also donating knitting material that will be distribute­d to women and men in the sewing business.

1gcamphala­la further urged compa nies and organisati­ons to donate beans to be cooked together with the rice, so that the children were fed nutritious meals.

“I am so grateful that 1'M$ has brought the bags of rice to be distrib uted to the different care points. We hope other companies and organisa tion will emulate the example set by the embassy and extend their hands to the vulnerable children living in our communitie­s through donating food,” he said.

Grateful

Sithobela MP Manqoba Sihlongo nyane said he was grateful that eight were employed under his inkhundla for the road project.

Sihlongony­ane stated that more job opportunit­ies would be created as the project progressed.

The MP thanked government for approving the budget towards the constructi­on of the road.

+e mentioned that his constituen­cy had lagged behind in terms of develop ment due to the bad state of the road.

The legislator said he was optimistic that the project would create more developmen­t initiative­s and lure in vestors to set up businesses at his constituen­cy.

“The project has come with better benefits for the people of Sithobela on the basis that there would be jobs and that the tarring of the road will see more businesses being establishe­d,” he said.
