Enjabulweni dominate under 19 cricket festival
MBABANE – Enjabulweni School’s exceptional performance at the Sisekelo High School U-19 Cricket Festival 2024 was a testament to their unwavering determination and skill.
Despite facing the challenge of playing with two players short, Enjabulweni School displayed exceptional prowess, convincingly defeating all three other participating teams – Sisekelo High School, U-Tech High School and Waterford Kamhlaba to secure their third consecutive title.
Enjabulweni’s dominance extended to the individual awards, with all four accolades being claimed by their players. Het Patel emerged as the standout performer, clinching the prestigious Player of the Tournament award, while also securing the titles of Best Batsman and Best Bowler.
Patel’s exceptional batting prowess was highlighted by his impressive 59 runs with a striking rate of 151.28, and his bowling finesse was evident in his six wickets at an economical rate of 3.86. Additionally, Benele Mngoma’s outstanding fielding proficiency, with three dismissals and three catches, earned him the title of Best Fielder.
The tournament bore witness to an outstanding all-around performance by Patel, whose remarkable display of talent and skill left an indelible mark on the competition. Patel’s remarkable achievements in both batting and bowling set a new standard, as he emerged as the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker, showcasing exceptional aptitude and composure under pressure.
Eswatini Cricket Association (ECA) Secretary General Mandla Dlamini congratulated Enjabulweni for their well-deserved victory, as well as to all the participating teams for their remarkable sportsmanship and exemplary performances throughout the tournament. Moreover, he cited that the Sisekelo High School U-19 Cricket Festival served as a testament to the passion and dedication of young cricketers, and the enduring spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie that defines school cricket.
