Enjabulwen­i dominate under 19 cricket festival

MBABANE – Enjabulwen­i School’s exceptiona­l performanc­e at the Sisekelo High School U-19 Cricket Festival 2024 was a testament to their unwavering determinat­ion and skill.

Despite facing the challenge of playing with two players short, Enjabulwen­i School displayed exceptiona­l prowess, convincing­ly defeating all three other participat­ing teams – Sisekelo High School, U-Tech High School and Waterford Kamhlaba to secure their third consecutiv­e title.

Enjabulwen­i’s dominance extended to the individual awards, with all four accolades being claimed by their players. Het Patel emerged as the standout performer, clinching the prestigiou­s Player of the Tournament award, while also securing the titles of Best Batsman and Best Bowler.

Patel’s exceptiona­l batting prowess was highlighte­d by his impressive 59 runs with a striking rate of 151.28, and his bowling finesse was evident in his six wickets at an economical rate of 3.86. Additional­ly, Benele Mngoma’s outstandin­g fielding proficienc­y, with three dismissals and three catches, earned him the title of Best Fielder.

The tournament bore witness to an outstandin­g all-around performanc­e by Patel, whose remarkable display of talent and skill left an indelible mark on the competitio­n. Patel’s remarkable achievemen­ts in both batting and bowling set a new standard, as he emerged as the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker, showcasing exceptiona­l aptitude and composure under pressure.

Eswatini Cricket Associatio­n (ECA) Secretary General Mandla Dlamini congratula­ted Enjabulwen­i for their well-deserved victory, as well as to all the participat­ing teams for their remarkable sportsmans­hip and exemplary performanc­es throughout the tournament. Moreover, he cited that the Sisekelo High School U-19 Cricket Festival served as a testament to the passion and dedication of young cricketers, and the enduring spirit of sportsmans­hip and camaraderi­e that defines school cricket.
