No more Comfort for Madlenya
MBABANE – Shocker!
The above best describes what befell MTN Premier League outfit Madlenya, after the unceremonious resignation of their vibrant Marketing and Communications Manager Comfort Jele.
A source close to the William ‘Baggio’ Gamedze-coached side revealed that Jele tendered his resignation letter yesterday, addressed to the Chairperson Juluka Gamedze. “Comfort is no longer part of Madlenya as he has since stepped down as the public relations officer with immediate effect,” the sources said.
The founder and editor of the Lubombo Sports Magazine confirmed the latest developments, citing personal commitments as the reason for parting ways with the Lubombo-based side. “Yes, it is true that I have left the team, as it was impossible to achieve the goals within the short time I’ve spent with the team; however, I believe I have made the relevant impact in terms of promoting the brand of the team,” Jele said.
He proudly said most people did not know Madlenya that much, as some thought the team was playing in the MTN National First Division (NFD) until he came and they now knew the team, even their slogan ‘Jozi Gobana’ was popular among the local football followers.
He also said since he came he was able to introduce a weekly column for the club in one of the local dailies and improved the following in their Facebook page from 1300 to 3100 – to date.
“I created a WhatsApp group for frequent update of the supporters and frequently promoting the brand of the club in local radio stations,” he said.
On the other hand, no comment could be sourced from the chairperson as his phone rang unanswered by the time this report was compiled.
