You have been recued

-

IT’S not that we are somehow motionless pillars distorted by our past, but it’s because when we refuse to accept that a season of change has come and therefore we must yield to it, we then become what we were not created to become.

I have come to understand that the most difficult thing for human beings to accomplish is to never look back at a situation they have been liberated from.

The past is always filled with parts of our lives, parts of our dreams and other parts stuck in other people’s memories. Weird thing is people always remember how you made them feel. Every experience is always engraved in their hearts.

MEMORIES

Sometimes people don’t let go of others not because they still want to be with them but because they refuse to let go of the memories they hold of each other.

I’m always intrigued by the story of Lot and his wife. The book of Genesis 19 describes how she became a pillar of salt after she looked back at Sodom.

I always feel like this is a reminder of what happens to us when we begin to look back at the judgment of sin or the judgment of something that was a torment in our lives.

We turn into something, we turn into people that are stuck in the midst of the judgment and the future, imagine if the children of Israel instead of crossing over they got stuck at the destruction of Pharoah and his army.

DESTRUCTION

Lot’s wife point of destruction was turning back to watch the annihilation of Sodom. It was turning back to watch the judgment, when it’s over it is just over.

Once you have been rescued never look back at what becomes of that place or person.

I believe we must forgive and that’s for our own good, God will judge and when judgment is released never look back. I understand that God gave them the instruction not to look back, because it’s always painful somehow to see the destruction of a place, because you always feel like a part of you is still there because it’s a place you used to live in, the uncertainty creeps in because you must embrace a journey that you are uncertain about.

The whole agenda of being saved from a situation means never look back at what was, but make an effort to focus on the future.

I always picture in my mind, how some people are sort of injured mentally and broken by circumstances to a point where they would never recognised the hand of God in their lives.

They would not even understand that God will judge and liberate at the same time. Instead even during the rescue mission, they keep on talking about the past experiences, how they were affected and how they became less of human beings and lost everything.

EXPECTATIONS

Talking about stuff that happened to your life over and over again is a sign that even if God could wake you up with a loud voice you wouldn’t hear Him.

Somehow because the expectations that are created by the past will often repeat themselves if we keep on looking back and making reference to the past as if it’s the only thing that provides a safe line of thinking.

I understand that sometimes we look back like Lot’s wife because we always have the desire to rescue something from the past or someone; something or someone that used to cushion our pain or used to provide a temporal comfort.

So it’s easier to think, that even though you are being given a clean page, you would want to carry plan B along, just in case you met a similar situation in the future. It can be cushioned yet that same cushioning can be the reason things never change for the better even after the rescue.

Sometimes our own past experiences can prison our mindsets to a point where we don’t even recognise that help has come. Being rescued from a situation always happens suddenly, sometimes unexpectedly.

Nevertheless when God decides to put an end to a situation, it means the rescue chariot has landed on your doorstep and you need to take that ride and never look back at what will happen to that situation.

EMOTIONAL

You might never be able to collect your past experiences on to this one, it just means stuff that happened to you in the past will never happen again. The baggage that we carry to the future with us becomes too heavy in a new place.

While we reminisce about the past and all that happened, we might miss the joy and the thrill that a new emotional place can bring if we decide to empty our minds of all that kept us prisoners in isolation.

When everything is new it means break those circles by

assuming a new position of newness.

Being rescued or liberated, means everything will be new, perhaps your system and structure will be shaken or lost and perhaps replaced by something you never thought existed.

Either way when its new it means you have never gone that way before, perhaps you didn’t even know that something or someone could become such a powerful positive connection for you. When that happens it’s because God has visited your house.

Take that ride and a certain picture of how things used to be vanishes or it is supposed to vanish.

REMINISCE

How then can we think about the old, how can we reminisce about the past when all of sudden we beholding something we have never thought would happen for us.

Sometimes we even hold on to small victories and small success even when we are given an opportunity to win bigger ones.

We fall short maybe because we don’t think we even deserve to win since we have lost so many times.

Given a chance to do something great we shouldn’t look back at our past experiences, because when something is new, it just means that it has never been seen before and you have been rescued.
