“I used to weigh 89kg, but now I’m down to 79kg.”

MBABANE – Nakiwe Dlamini’s story transcends mere weight loss; it is about a profound lifestyle transforma­tion that has significan­tly enhanced her health and vitality.

Dlamini’s journey began in 2021, sparked by a minor health scare that served as a wake-up call. The Ngwane Park-based gym enthusiast decided to take control of her health and lifestyle, leading to a remarkable transforma­tion. From overcoming unhealthy eating habits to embracing regular exercise, Dlamini’s journey is a testament to her indomitabl­e spirit and tenacity.

Her story resonates with many, particular­ly women in her community, demonstrat­ing that it’s never too late to embark on the path to healthier choices.

When did you start training and what was the motivation behind?

“I started training early in 2021. I had a minor health scare and I was not happy with my weight after seeing the doctor.”

What was your weight then compared to now?

“I used to weigh 89kg, but now I’m down to 79kg.”

What sort of lifestyle contribute­d to your weight gain?

“I was not taking care of myself, eating whatever I wanted, including a lot of junk.”

“I mostly do cardio and running.”

Do you stick to a specific nutrition programme?

“Not really, but I try to eat clean most of the time.”

What challenges do you normally encounter in keeping up with your new lifestyle and how do you handle them?

“It’s a challenge to stay away from sweets and caffeine, as well as training during winter is hard. But it’s all about working hard and pushing myself for the lifestyle I want.”

How has your life improved so far and how do you impact the people, especially ladies in your circle or community?

“My life has improved immensely as my doctor visits have decreased and I have gained so much strength.”

What are your weight and fitness goals given a certain time frame? How hard or easy will it be to achieve them?

“I do not have a time frame, but I have made it a choice to make it a lifestyle and adapt to it fully.”

What advice can you share with other people who face weight challenges, but lack the courage to start exercising and make it a lifestyle?

“Just start and start with what you have. You do not have to be fancy about it. Just use what is around you.”

What is your motivation­al slogan?

“It’s not mine, but it is my coach’s, ‘YOUR BUSINESS YOUR BODY,’ and do not wish for a good body but work hard for it and find what works for you.”
