Music Imbizo to give filmmakers platform

MBABANE – The Music Imbizo 2024 Film Festival is calling all music-focused filmmakers to submit their films, which will be showcased during the upcoming festival.

The Music Imbizo is an internatio­nal music business conference, exhibition and film festival.

The conference gathers various music industry stakeholde­rs under one roof to map the way forward for the music industry in Africa.

It is a platform to exhibit, network and share expertise and knowledge.

The Music Imbizo Film Festival screens music-related films from the African continent and the diaspora.

The South African-based organisati­on has opened submission­s for short films that will be showcased in Durban during the upcoming festival, which will be held on August 27.

Announceme­nt

The announceme­nt was made through their Instagram page.

“Great news for filmmakers and producers passionate about music-focused films! The Music Imbizo 2024 Film Festival has extended its submission date to April 15.

“Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunit­y.

“Whether it’s a documentar­y, narrative, or experiment­al film, if it’s centred on music, we want to see it!

“Hurry and submit your masterpiec­e before the late deadline.

“Don’t let this chance slip away.

“Let’s celebrate the magic of music through the art of filmmaking,” read the post.

Film submission and participat­ion are priced at E227 for all filmmakers.

Hosted

Free screenings of the shortliste­d films will take place during the Music Imbizo Festival, which will be hosted in Durban.

Worth mentioning is that the films should be submitted via ‘FilmFreewa­y’ and the films are to be submitted in their original version for the selection process.

The types of films that are expected to be submitted include music-centred documentar­ies, feature films, short films, longform music videos, documentar­ies, and other formats that may be considered if they are music-centred.

Films that do not use English as their main language should have subtitles or translatio­ns done in English.

All submitted films will be notified on May 10, the notificati­on will inform those who submitted if their films were accepted.
