Mbabane East MP’s E5k ladies tourney
MBABANE – The Member of Parliament (MP) for Mbabane East Welcome Dlamini has sponsored a ladies’ tournament with a prize fund of E5 000.
The sponsorship was announced during a press conference held at Sigwaca House on Monday. Samkeliso Simelane, the Chairman of the Mbabane Women’s Tournament, stated that the tournament will feature eight teams competing for the E5 000 prize.
The draw took place yesterday, resulting in Wizards being drawn against Highlanders with a kick-off time of 8:30am. Hurricane will face Mgababa at 9:30am, and the third fixture of the day, will be between Pine Valley and JVP, scheduled for 10:30am. Manganganeni will compete against Lioness at 11:30am. All games will be played on Saturday at Msunduza Sports Ground. The first semi-final will be played at 1pm, and the second semi-final will follow at 2pm. The finals will take place on Sunday at the same venue, starting at noon.
Simelane expressed gratitude to the MP for supporting women’s football, emphasising that they were pleased with the support and believe it would uncover women’s talent in Mbabane. MP Dlamini stated that ladies’ football required all the support it could get to develop, and the enthusiasm shown by the ladies in the Mbabane East Constituency was a clear indication of their love for the sport.
“This sport helps bring the ladies together and enhances their health and fitness levels, as well as assisting the Women’s Football Association in identifying talent. I made a commitment to always support ladies’ football in Mbabane East, and I am fulfilling that promise with this knockout tournament,” Dlamini said.
