The legislator told this publication that the regravelling of the road had already started through the assistance of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

“We are working around the clock to ensure that our roads at Kwaluseni are in a condition that would allow people to move freely. As we speak, there is a truck from the Ministry of Works that will be refurbinishing all the roads,” Shongwe said.

The legislator added that the regravelling was only a temporary intervention, since they were looking for a permanent solution to the challenge.

“For now, this is what we are trying and I think the people of Kwaluseni will see activity soon. We, however, need to be patient and have a proper timeframe for this project. As we speak, there is a grander at Mbikwane ready to start the process of rehabilitating the road,” he said.

He said a grader and trucks from the ministry would also be busy with the work these days, appreciating his appreciation for the support.

“We are working very hard to ensure that there is proper service delivery for the community of Kwaluseni. We are not sitting on our laurels and for the past 25 years, MPs are always promising to address this challenge, but find that this does not happen,” he noted.

Shongwe was, however, quick to assure the residents that he would not allow history to repeat itself on the issue of the bad roads, promising that even though he could not promise miracles, he would do his best to address their concerns as efficiently as he can.
