MBABANE-As the world celebrated Good Friday yesterday, the capital city witnessed a burst of excitement as Embiveni Meat Industries (EMI) opened what its management termed a First World meat plaza.

Embiveni Meat Industries is a subsidiary company of Inyatsi Group, a company that has expanded its footprint locally and all over the continent.

According to Chairman Michelo Shakantu, the opening of the plaza was in line with His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision of pushing the country to attaining First World status.

Shakantu said having become Africa’s leading integrated business partner, the Inyatsi Group was focused on an aggressive path which is characterised by spreading its wings to different sectors, something which will boost the country by uplifting the people and contributing to economic growth. He emphasised that spreading into different sector was a good way of empowering, not only other businesses, but different types of people including small scale farmers.

Also, he said the EMI was prioritising growing the export market to allow the Kingdom of Eswatini to compete with the rest of the world.

Meanwhile, as if they had been eagerly anticipating the big day, members of the public came out in numbers to witness the opening and this is despite that it was a holiday.

From as early as 7am, the entrance to the meat plaza was already a beehive of activity with members of the public queuing in readiness for the opening.

As has been witnessed during the opening of the other meat plazas in Matsapha and Nhlangano, the event proved to be a meat lover’s paradise, offering an extensive selection of special cuts at remarkably affordable prices.

Days before the opening, the company had encouraged customers and the public to not miss out as there was going to be a lot of prizes and surprises.

Indeed, upon arrival, the first 200 customers were made to register their particulars including their contact numbers.

When the shop was opened, the registered contacts were called to a separate stall where they were pampered with gifts.

The gifts included cooking utensils including knives, wooden plates and utensils.

The management of the plaza also made sure that they made the first five customers to arrive special by giving them a variety of gifts and further posed for pictures with them.

As expected, most of the customers who made their way inside the plaza were seen purchasing in bulk.

Some of them made it known that they had come to buy stock for their small businesses.

As the event drew to a close, patrons left with not just bags of quality meats but also cherished memories of a remarkable grand opening celebration. With a strong focus on producing high-quality beef products, EMI has established itself as a prominent player in the local market and has expanded its operations to include exporting to Europe.
