IT’S been a while since we shared with you a preview of the stories that the team spotted on social media.

However, we hope you didn’t miss the trends that much, as we gave you exclusive interviews in this section, especially about the ‘polite way to turn down a date’ and creatives’ anticipati­on on the recent arts summit.

This weekend we will be bringing you a preview of the stories that were spotted by the team during the week.

GOGO ESWATINI, S’LWANE FOR LAUGH AFRICA COMEDY FESTIVAL

Eswatini’s comedy duo Gogo Eswatini and S’lwane are set to feature in the inaugural edition of the Laugh Africa Festival. This is an event already making its intentions to be one of South Africa’s biggest comedy events and to be hosted at Sandton Convention Centre between April 5 and 7. With a line-up including a bevvy of South Africa and Africa’s stand-up comedy legends including Sifiso Nene, Skhumba, Nonto R, Tumi Morake, Kedibone Mulaudzi, Mashabela, Chester Missing and many others, the event aspires to unite the past, present and future of stand-up comedy over three-days of not just laughs, but learning, networking and solid relationsh­ip building towards a sustainabl­e African stand-up comedy landscape. Powered by Savanna and Showmax, the event is the brainchild of South African comedy legend Stuart Taylor, the event will be a threeday-long festival of non-stop laughs. In a line-up to be headlined by respected and super-decorated American standup comedian Eddie Griffin, as seen in the popular sitcom ‘Malcolm and Eddie’ among many other television and movie features, the event is curated to celebrate and showcase the best of South African standup comedy on a grand global scale. Notably, the event will also host the first-ever roast of celebrated media and TV personalit­y, Minnie Dlamini, who will be roasted by a

yet-to-be-revealed panel.

TENDANESS TOPS PRINCE KAYBEE ON APPLE MUSIC CHARTS

Award-winning musician Tendaness proved to be too good for South Afri

can (SA) musician Prince Kaybee on the Apple Music Dance Charts in Eswatini. Born Tatenda Mandaza, known profession­ally as Tendaness, is an Ewatini-born record producer, DJ, and songwriter. He is dedicated to delivering top-notch music to his audience, ensuring its quality and originalit­y. His ultimate goal is to continue producing new music and to establish himself as one of the world’s greatest DJs and producers. Tendaness took number three on the charts with his recent Extended Playlist (EP), which was released early this month and is titled ‘Tendamix Volume One’. The charts were topped by Kelvin Momo, who took number one with his record titled ‘Kurhula’ and went on to take number two with his song titled ‘Amukelani’. Tendaness took the third spot, and SA musician Prince Kaybee took the fourth spot with his project titled ‘Gemini’.

PISTON GETS AIRPLAY ON TRACE AFRICA

Local musician based in South Africa (SA), PiSton, had his recent music video ‘Ngikhumbul­e nami’ debut on Trace Africa. Trace Africa is a South African music channel that gives African musicians recognitio­n by playing their videos and giving them exposure. Celucolo Luke Mbuyisa, popularly known as PiSton, is a young musician based in SA, where he is pursuing his music career. He recently made it to Trace Africa Channel 326 on DStv with his new song, which started playing on March 21. From there, it has been showcased several times, and in this song, he worked with SA producers ChainBuLL and KayCee.

SA’S CHRISTOS TO GRACE THE LAND

South African (SA) musician and producer was set to thrill fans at the Hot Bar in Manzini yesterday. The musician was set to deliver a twohour set to usher patrons into a funfilled Easter. Born Christos Katsaitis, popularly known as DJ Christos, is a South African deejay and also among the most respected house producers. The disc jockey is popularly addressed as ‘The Godfather of House’. He is one of South Africa’s longestspi­nning and certainly most influentia­l house producers, having performed at the most seminal clubs in and around Gauteng, including Fourth World, Caesar’s Palace, and Arena. He will be visiting the kingdom for the first time this year since his last performanc­e in the country was during last year’s House Music Fest edition.

MOTHER OF ALL GOSPEL SHOWS ANNOUNCES TOP 30

The Mother of All Gospel (Rising Star competitio­n) has announced its top 30 contestant­s who made it through the past weekend. This comes after the eliminatio­ns, which were hosted at the Manzini Worship Centre last Friday. The Mother of All Gospel Shows is an initiative that gave birth to the ‘Rising Star Talent Search, which is a competitio­n aimed at unearthing talent locally by giving upcoming Gospel musicians a chance to sing and record their music. Last year’s competitio­n was a huge success and was able to catch the attention of the Arts and Culture Council, which helped in the recording of the 14 musicians.
