On this very last weekend of March, singena with the ‘Ngiyathandaza’ hit by South Africa’s Afro-pop sensation Lwandile Mtshali, who is professionally known as Lwah Ndlunkulu. We heard she will hit our shores to serenade fun lovers with her melodious voice up in Pigg’s Peak this weekend.

Speaking of ‘Ngiyathandaza’, it is the big Easter weekend. It is a chance for spiritual growth and strengthening relationships with uMdali. Gazi, if you are goal-oriented, you know what the end of March means. It is up to you to figure it out.

It has been another busy week, with Sihlangu finishing the job after a 5-2 aggregate win over minnows Somalia in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) preliminary round qualifiers. As we said earlier, the real test will be in the group stages. It was interesting to see a strong contingent of fans crossing the border to rally behind Dominic Kunene’s troops in Mbombela, South Africa. Speaking of the latter, we firmly believe the Somalia fixtures are the last games in charge of the national football side, as his contract expires tomorrow. Thanks but no thanks sir for transforming the side into whipping boys. We cannot wait to say good riddance. We are still analysing footage from the Mbombela trip and brace yourself for juicy stuff from behind the scene.

The Eswatini Football Association’s Administration Course, on the other hand, was concluded a few days ago and it was interesting to see pertinent issues being tabled for discussion. Obviously, the headliner was the issue of the proposed 16team Premier League. With more than half a dozen stadiums and grounds already, why not give it a shot. The big picture here is that we cannot build a competitive national team if the players from the big stage fail to clock at least 40 games per season. Most leagues in the region play minimum 30 games per season in the league, so Eswatini is behind. Yes, there are costs implications involved in running a big league, but on the flip side it means more gate takings.

Relegation

This is a necessary change and it should not be clouded with relegation. The discussion now should be about increasing the teams and the how part will be decided by the PLE membership.

Also discussed at length, was the proposed random doping tests for Premier League players.

This is another brilliant move. It is painful to see talented players being left out of Sihlangu for fear of being busted for doping. It is a global requirement to ensure clean sport, so we cannot compromise. If you want to play dirty, get out of football.

Before we bore you with serious stuff, asivele sicondze endzabeni Gazi. We heard of how players from this renowned side are having a tough time, as they are walking around parading in empty pockets and stomachs. They have not been paid for more than half a year.

To be specific, it is seven months Gazi without pay. They have endured months of hunger and starvation.

While they are getting used to be volunteers, the results are showing on the field of play. We are following the matter with keen interest and we will not be surprised to see a player exodus at the end of the season. Sitayicela ivutsiwe.
