Sekhukhune Utd .... 2

Cape Town City ..... 2

DURBAN - Sekhukhune United and Cape Town City played to an exciting 2-2 draw in their latest DStv Premiership encounter this week, as second-half substitute Heaven Sereets came off the bench to net an all-important equaliser at the Peter Mokaba Stadium last night.

Jode Lee opened the scoring in the 23rd minute of the match as he registered his first goal for the Western Cape outfit with a right-footed shot from the centre of the box.

However, Babina Noko replied just six minutes later as the in-form Linda Mntambo joined Jody Lee on the scoreboard.

Assisted by Vusimuzi Mncube, Mntambo popped up in the centre of the 18-yard-area before guiding the ball home to the goalkeeper’s bottom left.

With wind in their sails, Sekhukhune took the lead shortly before the halftime whistle following a swift break into the City half.

Picked out by Maloisane Mokhele, Mntambo then doubled his tally on the night with a finish from close range.

City bossed the possession count soon after the restart as Darwin Gonzalez

probed on the edge of the Babina Noko area.

While the Citizens actively searched for an equaliser, Sekhukhune held tight and looked solid in defensive settings.

In looking to change the complexion of the game, Eric Tinkler reshuffled his attacking department with the introduction of Khanyisa Mayo and Sereets.

The double substitution appeared to be the masterstroke needed for City as Sereets levelled matters in the 65 minute

th with a venomous effort from range.

After scoring the equaliser, the Mother City began strutting their stuff at the Peter Mokaba Stadium and starved the home side of the ball during the closing stages of the match.
